April 13, 2002 – Pontiac, MI
LamontRacing.com’s WSA/Snocross Nielsen Enterprises race
team visited Pontiac, MI to increase their exposure and results in the 2002 EA
Sports Supercross series.
This weekend started differently by having a factory support
team contact LamontRacing.com about having their 125cc rider (Robbie Horton)
ride a factory support Honda CR125R.
Team manager Jamey Grosser referred to Robbie piloting a Shark Factory Honda
CR125 as a cross promotion which would draw more attention to the WSA/Snocross
Nielsen Enterprises Honda team.
The increased exposure the team would receive over the air waves
(Internet, XM Radio and TV) and the riding of many of the LamontRacing.com’s sponsor’s
stickers on the bike was a positive deal for both parties and a deal was
struck.
Robbie Horton’s ride on the Shark Factory Honda bike ended
prematurely as Robbie broke his navicular bone in his wrist. Robbie stated, “I had a little trouble in
practice, I was trying to pull some pretty work tripling out of a section and
came up a little short. I broke my
navicular bone in my wrist.” This will
sideline Robbie for the remainder of the Supercross series.
250cc rider James Povolny Jr. is continuing with his
consistent qualifications into the main event each weekend for the WSA/Snocross
team. James riding has been very strong
except his luck in the main events hasn’t come together fully. James finished in 18th at Pontiac
after a little trouble but looks forwards to higher main event finishes as his
speed does allow this.
Team manager and racer Jamey Grosser was in his best shape
mentally and psychically to put his Honda CR250 in the night program but the
stars didn’t align and a couple of accidents keep him from his goal. Jamey holeshot Grosser, at least at Pontiac
pulled the holeshot in his day qualifier and was leading for a lap prior to
Tyler Evans putting him on the ground.
Jamey now in the last chance qualifier again tangled with a
rider who fell on him but this time the determined Grosser keep the throttle
pinned. With the other rider’s bike tangled
on Jamey’s he dragged it a 100 feet or so prior to hitting the ground
himself. Jamey said, “I’m upset right
now as both races I was in qualifying position and it didn’t happen. I can’t wait until Dallas.”
